Introducing Pinkerton Crystal: Our Biggest Redesign Yet
Pinkerton Crystal is live: a full redesign of Pinkerton AI — new chat, smarter model picker, rebuilt Studio and billing, and a real mobile experience.
In short: Pinkerton Crystal is the biggest update in Pinkerton AI's history. Every screen — the chat, the model picker, the Studio, the API playground, the billing pages and the whole mobile experience — has been rebuilt around a new "crystal" design language of frosted surfaces, calm typography and color that actually means something. Nothing changes underneath: still no chat logs, still no account required, still encrypted on your device. Open the chat and you are already using it.
Why we rebuilt every screen
Pinkerton grew the way most indie products grow: feature by feature, screen by screen, over more than a year. The chat came first, then the Studio for image work, then the API playground, then credit packs, then a mobile layout squeezed out of the desktop one. Each piece made sense on its own, but together they felt like five different products sharing a logo. Surfaces did not match, buttons moved around between pages, and on a phone some flows simply asked too much patience.
At the same time, the product itself had changed. Pinkerton is no longer "just" an uncensored chat — it is a chat with a dozen models, an image studio, an API, daily free credits and a billing system that works with both cards and crypto. That deserved an interface designed as one thing, not assembled from parts.
So we did the uncomfortable thing: instead of patching, we stopped and designed a complete system — color tokens, surface rules, typography scale, motion — and then rebuilt every public and private screen on top of it. Pinkerton Crystal is the result.
What is new in Pinkerton Crystal
The short answer is "everything you can see". The longer answer, screen by screen:
A chat that stays out of the way
The chat is the heart of Pinkerton, and it got the deepest rework. A new crystal sidebar holds your history with pinning and renaming, the header keeps the current model and your credit balance visible without shouting, and the composer sits in a floating glass bar that stays comfortable on long sessions. Private ghost mode is still one tap away, now clearly signaled so you always know when nothing is being kept — which, on Pinkerton, is already the default.
A model picker you can actually compare
Choosing between a fast uncensored model and a frontier model used to mean remembering names. The new picker opens as two panels: a filterable list on one side — sort by best, price or A–Z, filter by capability chips — and a detail panel on the other that shows what the model is good at, what it costs per message, and its badges. Picking a model is now a ten-second decision instead of a leap of faith.
Studio, API and billing in the same language
The image Studio, the API playground and the models documentation all moved to the crystal look, with the same windows, the same surfaces and the same behavior as the chat. Billing got the most practical upgrade: a "pick an amount" credit calculator shows exactly what a pack buys you before you pay, and a recent top-ups card keeps your own history visible. Cards, PayPal and crypto all still work, with no billing address required.
A real app on your phone
More than half of Pinkerton's visits are mobile, and until now the phone experience was a respectful adaptation of the desktop site. Crystal replaces it with a proper phone shell: a bottom tab bar where your thumb actually rests, conversation menus that open as sheets instead of dropdowns, scrollable model chips, and payment steps that read like a receipt you can check with one hand.
This matters more for us than for most products. A private AI you only use at a desk is a private AI you use half as much. The phone shell is the difference between a service you visit and a tool you carry.
What does not change: the privacy model
A redesign touches pixels, not principles. Everything that defines Pinkerton stays exactly where it was:
- Zero chat logs. The backend keeps no copy of your messages. Your history lives encrypted on your own device — lose the device key and nobody, us included, can read it back.
- No account required. Anonymous sessions still work from the first visit, and daily free credits still renew without an email address.
- No censorship layer. The uncensored models remain the default, with frontier models one tap away when you want them.
- Private payments. Crypto top-ups (BTC, XMR, LTC) remain available alongside cards, with no personal billing data.
If anything, Crystal makes the privacy posture more legible: encryption states, private mode and credit flows are now labeled in plain language instead of hidden behind icons.
What is next
Crystal is a foundation, not a finish line. The design system it introduces is built to carry the next features — deeper Studio tools, more models, and the mobile apps — without another visual rebuild. If something feels off after the update, the contact page is one tap away and we read everything.
The fastest way to see the update is to use it: start a conversation, open the model picker, and look around. Welcome to Pinkerton Crystal.
FAQ
Do I need to update or reinstall anything?
No. Pinkerton Crystal is a website update and is already live for every visitor — just reload the page. Your account, credits and encrypted history are untouched.
Will my old conversations still be there?
Yes. Your history is encrypted and stored on your own device, and the redesign does not change how it is saved or read. As always, history on a device you no longer have cannot be recovered by anyone.
Did prices change with the redesign?
No. Credit packs keep the same prices and the same credit amounts, daily free credits still renew, and every model costs the same per message as before the update.
Is Pinkerton still anonymous and uncensored?
Yes. The redesign changes how the product looks, not what it is: no chat logs, no account required, device-side encryption, and uncensored models as the default.
Where can I report a problem with the new interface?
Use the contact page linked in the footer. Visual bugs, translation issues and rough edges on specific phones are exactly what we want to hear about in the first weeks after launch.
